Mercury Marquis
Overcast days are perfect for taking photos of cars. The clouds act like a softbox, so there aren’t harsh shadows, the colors feel more natural, and there aren’t as many people out and about.
Last week, I found this second-gen Mercury Marquis four-door on the east side of Detroit on an over-cloudy day. The condition of the tires indicates it hasn’t moved in a while—but for the most part, the car is in great shape. The hidden headlamp covers are either stuck open or broken off, which looks odd when you move in for a close-up.
As winter rolls in, I’m excited to shoot cars in the snow!
