MG MGB

While exploring Detroit, you’ll occasionally find a car you’d never expected to find. This is one of those instances.

I’d passed this one a few times before finally breaking down to snag a few photos. The car looks like it hasn’t been driven for ages—the tires are in shambles, and there’s no plate. Either way, it’s a gorgeous automobile.

I’m pretty confident that it’s an MG MGB. To be honest, their branding of different car models is a bit of a mystery to me.

Cecil Kimber founded the brand in Oxford, England, in the 1920s. The company is in business today, albeit with vastly different-looking offerings.

On the topic of odd-ball cars in Detroit, there used to be a lot near Hamtramck with a ton of vintage Jaguars rotting away, which I wish I had taken more photos of. Have you ever found an odd or exciting car while cruising around Detroit?
